Insurance and Payment
I do not accept insurance and operate as a private pay (cash-pay) practice.
This allows me to provide the best possible care without the restrictions and limitations imposed by insurance companies.

Why I Choose Private Pay
There are several reasons I have chosen not to work with insurance providers:
-
More Privacy and Confidentiality – Insurance companies require a formal mental health diagnosis and detailed records to approve coverage. Private pay ensures that your therapy remains fully confidential between you and me.
-
No Diagnosis Required for Treatment – Not everyone seeking therapy meets the criteria for a mental health diagnosis, but insurance requires one for reimbursement. Private pay allows us to focus on your needs without applying a label that could stay on your medical record.
-
Greater Flexibility in Treatment – Insurance companies often limit session frequency, length, and the types of therapy covered. Private pay allows us to create a treatment plan that is tailored to you, rather than dictated by insurance policies.
-
Less Administrative Hassle – By not working with insurance, I can spend more time providing quality care rather than navigating the complexities of insurance claims and approvals.
Superbills and Out-of-Network Benefits
Although I do not accept insurance, I provide superbills upon request. A superbill is a detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
It’s important to note that most insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis on the superbill in order to process reimbursement. If you are seeking out-of-network benefits, I will need to assign a diagnosis that best fits your symptoms and experiences. If you prefer not to have a diagnosis on record, private pay without submitting to insurance may be the best option for you.
Many insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits, which may cover a portion of your therapy costs. If you’re considering this option, I recommend checking with your insurance provider by asking:
-
Does my plan include out-of-network mental health coverage?
-
What percentage of the session fee is reimbursed?
-
Is there a deductible I need to meet first?
-
Do you require a diagnosis for reimbursement?
-
How do I submit a superbill for reimbursement?
Reimbursement is ultimately dependent on your insurance plan’s policies.
